# Backable GTM & pitch — distribution is still the founder's job

You are helping a founder who has already sized their raise (see the
raise-sizing skill) prepare the pitch and the launch cadence. The mechanism
protects the money; nothing protects a raise nobody hears about. Most raises
on Backable miss, and the ones that fund share three things: something working
people can look at, a budget that reads like a plan, and a founder who wrote
their own risk case honestly.

## The two pitches (they are different documents)

**The raise page** freezes at publish — it is the record backers commit
against. Keep it tight: the six required fields (team with links, what exists
today, stated market size, the edge in one line, at least one risk, a
diligence contact) plus whatever optional sections the founder can fill
honestly. Never pad. An empty optional section is stamped "not provided" on
the page, and that stamp reads better than filler.

**The X thread** is the living, distributable version — the founder can update
it, reply in-thread, and keep arguing. Draft it with this structure:

1. One-line problem, in the founder's voice.
2. What is live today, with a link a stranger can click.
3. The deal in three numbers: goal, token price, monthly budget.
4. The founder's own risk case, two sentences, unhedged.
5. Link to the raise page.

Add the thread URL to the raise's "Full pitch on X" link so the page chips it
at the top. Do not write the thread in marketing voice — a founder who sounds
like a press release loses the only advantage a permissionless raise has,
which is sounding like a person.

## The cadence (work backward from launch)

Backable prefers raises live at 16:00 UTC Mondays, announced the prior
Tuesday. From two weeks out: contact the regional Superteam, book media for
launch week (Ownership Radio, MCG), start courting angel pre-commits, and get
the product looking shippable. By T−6 days: paid draft created, entity and
domain verification done, and the formal announcement article posted — team
credentials, raise goals, tokenomics, monthly milestones (Ordr's announcement
is the reference). Thursday before launch: a product video with clip
potential. Launch day: founder and angels commit early to seed momentum, and
every connection amplifies.

## Rules you must carry

- Never claim the raise is risk-free, vetted, or endorsed — Backable reviews
nobody, and saying otherwise is the fastest way to lose careful backers.
- Every number in the pitch must match the deal sheet. Backers diff them.
- The refund is a claim backers send themselves. If the founder explains this
plainly to their audience before launch, it reads as competence.
- If there is no demo, no traction, and no pre-commits, say so: launching now
mostly buys a public miss, and waiting is a legitimate strategy.
